The Cape Lambert Petroleum (Gas) Pipeline and Station construction project (CLPPL) is part of the overall Rio Tinto Power System Upgrade (PSU) 330 Project. The PSU 330 Project includes the development of new power generation and transmission infrastructure throughout the Pilbara Region, to support the company’s iron ore production expansion to 333 million tonnes per annum. The CLPPL Gas Metering Facility, constructed & commissioning by Primero reduces pressure and meters gas flow into the power station.
The metering facility is capable of a throughput of 40 Tj/day. The project scope included the complete civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation & control works including fabrication of all materials, off-site assembly and testing, on-site installation, testing and commissioning of the facility to be ready to receive gas for the power station. All offsite fabrication and assembly was completed at Primero’s Bibra Lake facility where pre-assembly was completed with the remainder of works completed on site as a complete turnkey installation by Primero.
Using in-house commissioning software ‘CheckmateTM’, our team completed the required scope with the paperless ITR system and again demonstrated the efficiency that can be achieved by multi-disciplined in-house delivery in preparing the facility for hot commissioning and start-up. All hazardous area inspections and verification dossiers were completed by in-house staff showcasing our further ability to ensure another overall project success for Primero.
